Rev. Christopher Caruana O.P.

Rev. Christopher Caruana OP

Rev. Christopher Caruana O.P. was ordained priest in 2001. He was Director of Initial Formation for the Maltese Dominican Province, served as a member of the Archdiocesan Theological Commission and most recently as Prior of the Dominican Community in Rabat. Currently, he is a member of the Inter-Diocesan Doctrinal Commission and lectures at both the University of Malta and at the Diocesan Seminary in Gozo.

Rev. Dr Carlo Calleja

Rev. Dr Carlo Calleja read for his Doctorate in Moral Theology at the Boston College School of Theology and Ministry, after having pursued a bachelor’s degree in the health sciences and undergraduate and postgraduate studies in theology at the University of Malta. He is a resident academic at the University of Malta in the areas of theological ethics and applied ethics. His areas of interest include virtue ethics and social justice.

Rev. Bernard Micallef

Rev. Bernard Micallef, a former athlete, exhibits a profound interest in the realm of sports. His undergraduate dissertation scrutinised the role of local football nurseries in advancing the strategy of the then National Council of Sports. His Licentiate dissertation delved into the interplay between sports and religion, while also addressing the contemporary requirements of sports ministry.

Over the course of seven years, Fr Bernard has actively participated as a member of KDS. He completed the ‘ReadySetGO’ training programme provided by the European Christian Sports Union, in addition to participating in gatherings organized by the same institution. Notably, he assumed the role of chaplain at the World Para-Athletic Championships’23 held in Paris.

Rev. Antoine Farrugia SDB

Rev. Antoine Farrugia is a Salesian priest and a Registered Social Worker involved with young people, NGOs, as well as church and government entities at service delivery, management and policy levels in Malta and abroad. Certified in the supervision and training of social workers, care workers and volunteers providing services for young people in difficult situations, he has served as Head of Care at St Patrick’s Residential Children Services and was later responsible for the minors at Osanna Pia Home. In 2008 he was responsible for opening Don Bosco House in Balzan, the first community-based residential home providing family-like care for young people in Malta. He served on the Executive of the Malta Association of Social Workers (2007-2009) and functioned as a volunteer, then Supervisor and eventually Support Services Manager with the national online helpline for youth Kellimni.com (2013-2016).


Rev. Antoine Farrugia has lectured and presented around the topic of Children in Out-of-Home Care in Malta, in Brussels and at the UN in New York. He currently forms part of the Salesian Community in Senglea, where he runs the Youth Centre and the VO Home Away from Home and serves on the MCAST Salesian Chaplaincy Team. His work in the Church includes the oversight of Safeguarding for the Salesians of Don Bosco as well as for the Maltese Church’s Safeguarding Commission.

Rev. Can. Stephen Attard

Rev. Can. Stephen Attard was ordained to the priesthood on July 3, 2011 by His Grace, Mg. Paul Cremona OP. He holds a Licentiate in Pastoral Theology from the University of Malta. He furthered his studies at the Pontificio Istituto Liturgico within the Pontificio Atheneo di Sant’ Anselmo in Rome, where he obtained a Licentiate in Sacred Liturgy.

Rev. Can. Stephen Attard is a member of the Secretariat for Liturgy of the Archdiocese of Malta, as well as the Commission for the Translation of the Liturgical Books in the Maltese language.

He also serves as an assistant parish priest in Zurrieq and holds the role of Chancellor of the Collegiate Chapter of Saint Lawrence in Vittoriosa. Rev. Can. Stephen Attard is the president of the Vittoriosa Historical and Cultural Society.
